PNG Health Considerations

Papua New Guinea - Health Considerations

Working in PNG means exposure to a number of potentially significant illnesses. Infectious diseases & malaria are those most likely to be encountered. It is appropriate for those working there to be adequately protected against these, and a number of vaccinations are recommended. The most relevant are tetanus, hepatitis A & B, typhoid, influenza along with adequate protection (medication) against malaria.   Individuals will have varying requirements depending on where they are likely to be working, prior vaccinations and their present state of health.

I have had experience of working in PNG, and have a Travel Clinic in Nelson - we would be happy to provide appropriate advice and immunizations etc to anyone planning to work there. We have dedicated clinics on Tuesday evenings, but otherwise fit in clients during my normal General Practice hours.
